Teaser from the Cover Story:

It may not have been God who made honky-tonk angels, though when one listens to Kitty Wells' performance of her similarly titled trade-mark song, it's hard to believe there wasn't something divine behind the creation of such a voice. A Nashville resident for most of her life, Kitty was born Muriel Deason in 1919. She learned guitar as a child and soon began performing on the radio with her sisters. She met country singer Johnnie Wright while singing on the radio. They married in 1937 and soon began a career of performing together that has lasted to the current day. Wright came up with his wife's stage name thanks to a folk song entitled "I'm A-Goin' to Marry Kitty Wells."
