Country music legend and Opry star Hank Locklin is one of the best known hitmakers in the business. Hank has put dozens of records on the country charts, as well as crossing a few over to pop radio. His great, smooth tenor voice has made him a household name around the world and particularly in Great Britain and Ireland. Born Lawrence Hankins Locklin in the Florida panhandle town of McClellan on February 15, 1918, Locklin is known as the honorary mayor of McClellan. As is the case with so many classic country artists, Hank got started performing on the radio, most notably on WCOA in Pensacola, Florida in the 1930s. By the o˜40s he put a band together and began making appearances in Mobile, Alabama eventually working his way through Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

    Wonderful article on Hank Locklin my favorite country artist. I was happy for the Q&A format and to have his own words since now he is now longer with us. Hank gave many insights into his career that were not published elsewhere.
