Birth Name:The Oklahoma Wranglers
James "Guy" Willis, Charles "Skeeter" Willis, and John "Vic" Willis make up the Vic Willis trio, but that wasn't the only group they were in. As teenagers in 1932 the brother formed the Oklahoma Wranglers playing a blend of western swing and cowboy. The Oklahoma Wranglers playing on Shawnee, OK's KGEF throughout the 1930's until they disbanded due to marriage and the war. In 1946 they reunited and joined the Grand Ole Opry and signed to Sterling Records and backed Hank Williams on his first recording. The Oklahoma Wranglers then switched to the Willis Brothers to play to a larger audience. The Willis Brothers then charted with "Give Me 40 Acres".
