Vernon Oxford is an American country music singer and guitarist who was born in Arkansas, but was raised in Kansas. In the 1960 Oxford started playing professionally in Utah and started playing in Kansas in the early 1960's. Oxford then relocated to Nashville in 1964 and in 1965 was signed to RCA Victor, who helped him to record his first songs. Once Oxford was signed he had trouble gaining momentum, releasing seven singles none of which charted, Oxford was soon released from RCA. In the middle of the 1970's Oxford had a revival in Britain, RCA then signed him again to tour in Britain and Oxford had hit singles "Shadows of My Mind", "Redneck", and "A Good Old Fashioned Saturday Night Honky Tonk Ballroom Brawl" which hit number 55 in the U.S. Oxford started gospel singing in 1981 and still tours.
